While your RV may be a perfectly comfortable and secure place to spend your vacation time, it might not feel very warm or welcoming due to the neutral color schemes and basic patterns used in most RV decor. Your RV is, however, essentially a blank canvas, upon which you can paint anything your heart desires, turning your sterile dwelling into a cozy on-the-road abode. Here are some quick and easy ways you can customize your RV’s interior decor to your liking.

1. Select a Theme

If you’re not sure where to begin, it might help to think about a particular theme that can unify your space. Of course, you can also be eclectic and decorate with a mish-mash of items, but sometimes, a theme can help. You could go for a beachy aesthetic, with pale blues, white, and tans and lots of nautical decorations. Or you could choose a woodsy cabin theme, with dark forest greens and cute animal motifs. Think about things that appeal to you or favorite possessions and build your decorating palette around that.

2. Add a Splash of Paint

We said “paint” metaphorically earlier, but you can literally paint your RV interior, too! Adding a base coat can help your colors pop and the paint to stick. You can choose to paint one bright accent wall or select a muted pastel to paint everything in. You could even paint all surfaces white and use other items to add color.

3. Soften Things Up

RV furniture is designed to be comfortable and easy to clean, but it isn’t necessarily inspiring to behold. Make your space feel instantly cozier with some plush throw blankets, homemade quilts, toss pillows in bright patterns, or fabric wall hangings. Macramé art is especially nice in an RV because it can’t break and the cord used is very lightweight.

4. Cultivate Plants

Need some fresh air and some more life in your RV? Why not get a few houseplants? Lightweight hanging baskets can be filled with flowers or vines that drape attractively around your space. Another option is to get a kitchen planter that you can fill with fresh herbs to use in your  cooking.

5. Put Up Travel Mementos

Another way to customize your RV space is to fill it with mementos and souvenirs of all the places you’ve traveled. Print photos, put up postcards, add magnets to the fridge and tack up a map that you can use to mark off states or cities you’ve already visited.
